Quitting smoking at age 50 reduces the chance of dying prematurely by 50 percent- Quitting smoking at age 50 reduces the chance of dying prematurely by 50 percent. Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body and diminishes a person’s overall health. But to quit smoking is not easy for smokers. In spite of the fact that smoking can cause serious health risks, there are very less people who quit smoking. Smoking can cause many serious diseases mainly cancer and heart attack. It causes cancers of the lung, esophagus, larynx, mouth, throat, kidney, bladder, pancreas, stomach, and cervix, as well as acute myeloid leukemia. Regardless of their age, smokers can substantially reduce their risk of disease, including cancer, by quitting. Smoking also causes heart disease, stroke, aortic aneurysm, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, hip fractures, and cataracts. Smokers are at higher risk of developing pneumonia and other airway infections.
