LeBron's new shoe has military theme

LeBron's new shoe has military theme- LeBron James' new shoes have a military theme, as you can see in the pictures above and below. And while we usually don't like to use BDL as a forum for apparel companies to launch their wares, this particular shoe strikes us as … actually, no. This is just another crass and cynical way for a company to take your money: $170 a pair, for these.

Rip-off charge leveled at Beyoncé

Rip-off charge leveled at Beyoncé: Last week, Beyoncé unveiled her new music video for "Countdown," a fun, colorful vid that's not shy about giving visual props to iconic movies like Funny Face, West Side Story, and Flashdance. However, it's a lesser-known inspiration that has Beyoncé facing plagiarism accusations. While well-known films gave "Countdown" its style, the dance moves were lifted, without credit, from the works of Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Studio Brussels posted the above comparison video between Beyoncé and De Keersmaeker's moves (via Vulture), and the similarities are too close to ignore.

Star Accused of Faking Rescue At Sea

Star accused of faking rescue at sea- Bethenny Frankel recently survived a hellish scenario: last month the Bravo reality star and her husband chartered a sailboat and got lost at sea for 20 terrifying hours. Or did they??? The guy who came to the rescue tells The Jewish Journal that the group which included Frankel's therapist and a Bravo camera team scripted the situation for the sake of drama. According to Tim Russell, who was called out to Frankel's "capsized" boat in the wee hours of the morning, there was hardly any danger to report in the waters off Nantucket. Writes Ilana Angel:

NFL player’s leap into crowd goes wrong

NFL player’s leap into crowd goes wrong- While watching players do the Lambeau Leap, I've always wondered how difficult it is for them to get free from the clutching hands of fans. They're being held up by every fan within a 10-seat radius; 22 hands all trying to get a piece of the latest touchdown scorer to jump into the crowd. Most of the time, players slide out of the stands pretty easily, but I've often thought that's due more to that famed Midwestern hospitality than anything. Packers fans know when to say when. I can't say I'd do the same. If I'm sitting in the end zone during a Packers game and Aaron Rodgers leaps into my waiting arms, I'll be damned if I'm letting go.

Omar Vizquel "OH Say San You Sing"

The San Francisco Giants' leading run producer is no Aubrey-come-lately when he has a song in his heart and some tender lyrics on his mind.
Aubrey Huff was attending a friend's wedding a few years ago when the karaoke machine cranked up and he wowed the assembled guests with his rendition of George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning." One thing led to another, and, in 2005, Huff recorded a track alongside Omar Vizquel, Coco Crisp and several other major leaguers on a baseball CD titled "Oh Say Can You Sing." If Huff's fellow Giants had been unacquainted with his golden pipes, they became aware at Jake Peavy's "Woodjock" benefit concert in Scottsdale, Ariz., in March. Between appearances by Bernie Williams and Bronson Arroyo, Huff took the stage in skintight jeans, a T-shirt and a pair of cowboy boots. With a man-sized gold chain around his neck and a cold beverage in hand, he treated the audience to a couple of pelvic thrusts and a passable interpretation of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire."

Guy Lafleur Disco Songs

Guy Lafleur disco songs- I was originally thinking of putting up a more substantial disco record for this post, but given that we're in the beginning of Hockey season up here, I figure now would be a good time to put up one of the ultimate, if not the ultimate Can-Con disco novelty record. First of all though, I have to thank Disco Delivery reader Luke Barker for kindly sending me some files from this album nearly a year ago now. I couldn't get enough of them then and I just had to track the real thing down.. I'm finally getting down to doing something on it, so special thanks to Luke for getting me acquainted with this!

At the risk of having my Canadian citizenship revoked, I have to admit that I rarely, if ever follow hockey. In fact, for me, 'Hockey Night In Canada' might as well be Don Cherry bellowing in Swahili, for all I care.. Granted, the excitement that sweeps much of the country when a Canadian team ends up in the final stretch of the playoffs or in an Olympic gold medal game can be pretty infectious, even for me. Being lousy at hockey (and at most sports generally, for that matter), I've never actually sustained any interest in following it with any degree of seriousness.
